Le courier était le seul moyen par lequel les colon de l'ouest canadien s'infroment sur ce qui se passait dans le monde. Suivant une demande auprès du Ministère des postes, un service de poste est disponible le 1er août 1898 à Bellegarde. Il y a plusieurs autres endroits au Canada avec le nom St-Maurice, alors le nom a été changé pour Saint-Maurice-de-Bellegarde.
| Mail was the only way for pioneers to keep in touch with the rest of the world. The first post offce opened August 1st, 1898, following a request for service to the minister of Postal Services. Many either areas in Canada had St Maurice as a name so they changed the name to Saint-Maurice-de-Bellegarde.

Aujourd'hui, le bureau de poste sert encore la communauté dans le quotidien et le code postal de la région est S0C 0J0.
